After welding and heat treatment, line pipe is sized and straightened. Laboratory tests confirm full compliance to specifications and other mechanical property requirements before the pipe is end finished and hydrostatically tested.

Multiple certifications are available. Every piece of U. S. Steel Tubular Products line pipe is hydrostatically tested in accordance with API Specification 5L. Test pressures and hold times in excess of those listed in 5L are available. Weldline ultrasonic, full-body ultrasonic and electromagnetic inspections after hydrostatic testing are also available. After testing, line pipe is weighed, measured and stenciled with the appropriate identity. Shipment is made directly from stocks maintained at the plant. Thin film coating, conventional coating and wrapping plants are located near the U. S. Steel Tubular Products facility.
